Water jogging is an excellent way to warm up for pool activity because it increases the heart rate for cardio and relaxes muscles for routines that require more effort.
Backward Flying Lunge
Exercises in the pool aren’t just for the lower body and the core. Between the shallower and deep ends of the swimming pool, take a lunge position so that your shoulders are submerged. Up until your palms touch, extend your arms fully in front of you. When the water reaches beyond your back, push it backward with your cupped hands. Lunge with one leg, then quickly hop up to the other and repeat.
Prone Scissor Kick
Start on the deeper side of the swimming pool. Lift your legs so your body is horizontal while clutching onto the edge of the swimming pool or a flotation device. Maintain neutral spinal alignment. Kick from the side of the hip like you are kicking a ball, keeping your knee soft and whipping or flicking out through your toes. Repeat the steps with the other leg. To make it more challenging, kick harder and move your legs faster.
