Children love splashing in the water during summertime. But getting your child to like swimming is a lot of work. Only enrolling them for swimming lessons is not going to do the job.
Swimming will boost their breathing, increase their lung capacity and flexibility. So, call your pool contractors to for childproofing the pool and let the games begin.
Schedule Short Lessons
If you or your child are not attending any swimming lessons, then it makes sense to schedule swimming lessons at home for your child. Plan the session out and start with short lessons. If you teach your child too many things at the same time, they will forget and will eventually lose interest in it. Try half an hour each day to keep them engaged and stick with the lessons.
Refer to your local pool contractors to make your swimming pool child-proof.
Kicking their Legs
Most children start by kicking their legs, and lucky for the parents, kids enjoy it. Get them to hang at the edge of the pool and straighten out their legs to kick on the water.
First, help them stay afloat so their legs won’t sink. It will help them balance their body on water.
Blow Bubbles in the Water
Next, teach your child how to blow bubbles in the water. You can practice this with your child by pretending to talk to fish. You can encourage your child to submerge their heads in the water and blow bubbles inside it. Make sure to do it yourself first. Your child will be more apt to do it if you are enjoying it yourself.
This activity will increase your child’s breath control.
Hire pool builders to build a pool covers for your pool in order to cover it up after the lessons are over. This will prevent any accidental falls in the water when you are not paying attention.
Human Raft
You must have played this game in your childhood. Reviving this game with your kids might be a good idea. One person will hold the raft’s feet and another person will hold the raft’s legs. The raft will float in the water on their back. You can add a fourth person as a passenger on the raft. The two people carrying the raft walk in unison to escort the passenger around the pool.
Reach out to your pool designers to build a fence around the pool to keep your kids away from the pool area when you are not supervising.
Paddling
Once your kids are comfortable in the water, it’s time to paddle in the water. Hold their arms and pull them in the water. Then encourage your child to use their arms to pull through the water themselves.
If our child has limited arm strength, then the doggie paddle is the best stroke to practice. After a while their arms and legs will coordinate naturally.
Turn Lesson into Games
The last thing you want is for your child to get bored of swimming lessons. You can switch the lessons with occasional games. There are several games you can play with your kid. Make them swim through a hula hoop and encourage them to swim further distances to boost their stamina.
Hold a pool party for your kids and friends and have races for your child for them to be more inclined towards swimming.
Before holding the party, you can call the pool contractors to check the pH and chemical balance of the water.
