Having your own pool is a surreal feeling. You now have a private recreational space to enjoy whenever you want to. Swimming is also a great way to stay fit and having your own pool means it’s hygienic. Swimming pools have also come in handy now that we need to stay safe in our homes. Staying indoors can get quite monotonous and therefore, having an outdoor living space with a pool is a blessing!
However, owning a pool comes with great responsibility too. Even during off-season you need to care for the pool and maintain it. This way, when its spring and summer, there are less problems to deal with.
Here are some important maintenance tasks to complete for your new pool:
Circulating the water
Some pool owners drain their pool for fall and winter, however, that’s not such a great idea. You should leave some water in the pool even during the off season. The plumbing system is a necessary part of the pool and so leaving some water in the pool ensures it works well. There’s plenty of maintenance involved with a pool, especially since the pump runs around 8 hours a day.
Don’t forget the filters
The filters are equally important. It takes care of any particulates that settle in the water. The filter pulls such contaminants out of the water, making it cleaner and safe to swim in. However, if your pool’s filters are clogged, they will no longer do their job. Make sure the filters are regularly cleaned so that they can effectively do their job. You can also replace the filters entirely.
Sanitize the pool
Take some time out to sanitize your pool. Special pool cleaners can be used to get rid of algae and bacteria that make it unsafe to use. Chlorine is most popularly used to sanitize pool water, however, now there are salt water pools also available. Saltwater pools are said to have health benefits and aren’t harsh on the skin and hair like chlorine.
To sanitize salt pools you need to ensure the pump and filter are working. Remove any dirt in the pool with a pool vacuum. Check the salt, calcium, and chlorine levels of the pool. To deep clean a salt water pool, you might require a shock solution. It’s perfect to prepare the pool for the season of before inviting guests over.
