Do you want to give your patio a makeover but have a tight budget? You may think that you have no other option than waiting a year to save up, but what if we told you that you could renovate your patio on a budget?
Here are some tips:
1. Work with What You Have
Instead of constructing new elements from scratch, the best way to give your patio a budget makeover would be to expand the existing elements. For example, adding a concrete pad can expand the entertainment area.
All you have to do is color the concrete so that it looks similar to the pavers. Any landscape architect will tell you that just because you want to give your home a makeover, it does not mean you need to rip everything out.
2. Create a Custom BBQ
Instead of spending thousands of dollars on a built-in barbecue, how about you give your existing grill a makeover and customize it based on your needs?
You can use stone or brick to create walls and push the barbecue into a frame. This will give the illusion of a built-in grill. The only difference will be that you managed to renovate the barbecue by staying within your budget.
3. Add More Plants
Ask any outdoor living space designer, and they will tell you that there is no better way to beautify your yard than by adding different plants and flowers. You can create levels on your patio to boost your visual aesthetic and use planters of different sizes and colors.
Whether you want to grow plants vertically or create a DIY garden bed, do not be afraid to get creative with the greenery on your patio. Add pops of color and be as innovative as you want.
Another added benefit of plans is that if you are looking for privacy but do not have the budget to build a fence, you can do so with some plants. If you plant them right, plants can prevent anyone from peeking into your home.
If you have the budget, we recommend adding a wood trellis. This can then be used to add climbing plants. If not, you can always get ceramic planters at thrift shops and use those to plant your tall plants.
4. Use Old Wood
A landscape designer will never advise you to tear out old wood, especially if you are on a budget.
You can do many things with old wood- repurposed wood can be used to build a privacy wall or as a showpiece on the patio. You can build a statue or create an innovative feature- the choice is yours.
5. Replace Lighting
Lighting can transform any space in your house. We recommend adding artificial lighting to your patio to boost its aesthetic and appeal. When it comes to outdoor spaces, lights can add a touch of magic without breaking the bank.
Some popular lighting styles recommended by an expert living space designer Sterling at Perfect Pools, include string lights in different bulbs and colors and solar rock lights. Both these lighting types are a great way to illuminate dark areas of your patio or attract attention to special features that you are particularly proud of.
